يَا أيُّهَا المُخْتَارُ مِنْ خَيْرِ الوَرَى
خُلُقاً وخَلْقاً فِي الكَمَالِ تَوَحَّدَا
yā ayyuhal mukhtāru min khayril warā
khuluqan wkhalqan fīl kamāli tawaḥḥadā
O you, the chosen one from the best of creation,
In character and form, uniquely perfect,
مَاذَا أقُولُ بِمَدْحِهِ
وَاللهُ طَهَّرَ مِنْ سِفَاحِ الجَاهِلِيَّةِ أَحْمَدَا
mādhā aqūlu bimadḥihi
wa Allahu ṭahhara min sifāḥil jāhiliyyati aḥmadā
What can I say in his praise,
When God purified Ahmad from the ignorance of the past,
ذُو رَأْفَةٍ بِالمُؤْمِنِينَ ورَحْمَةٍ
سَمَّاكَ رَبُّكَ فِي القُرآنِ مُحَمَّدَا
dhū ra’fatin bil mu’minīna wraḥmatin
sammāka rabbuka fīl qurāni muḥammadā
Full of compassion for the believers and mercy,
Your Lord named you in the Quran as Muhammad,
نَادَتْ بِكَ الرُسْلُ الكِرَامْ فَبَشَّرَتْ
وَمَلَائِكُ الرَّحْمَنِ خَلْفَكَ سُجَّدَا
nādat bikar ruslul kirām fabashsharat
wamalā’ikur raḥmani khalfaka sujjadā
The noble messengers called upon you and gave glad tidings,
And the angels of the Merciful prostrated behind you,
لَا يُحْصِي فَضْلَكَ نَاثِرٌ أوْ كَاتِبٌ عَدَداً
وَلَا الشُّعَراءُ يَا غَوْثَ النَّدَى
lā yuḥṣī faḍlaka nāthirun aw kātibun ʿadadan
walash shuʿarā’u yā ghawthan nadā
No writer or poet can count your virtues,
O refuge of generosity,
طَهَ صَلَاةُ اللهِ مِنِّي سَرْمَداً
ثُمَّ السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ يَا نَجْمَ الهُدَى
ṭaha ṣalātu Allahi minnī sarmadan
thummas salāmu ʿalayka yā najmal hudā
May God's prayers be upon you eternally,
And peace be upon you, O star of guidance.
